Talk about everything.

I have not found any bugs in the ship creation yet, and I wanted to express how much fun I am having creating ships. It would be great it I could just customize the premade classes of ships with "bling" so that I have unique ships that I feel like I designed, but it so much better to be able to do that AND create my own ships from scratch, so that I can have a very speedy and inexpensive colony ship or a massive starship that looks cool to ME. Awesome addition! Thanks guys!

Yea I like that and reguarly use cheaper longer ranged and faster colony ships

(Bear in mind I'm not playing the beta) How are you manging to optimise the start ships to be so much better? Surely the basic colony ship design takes advantage of your starting technology? Do you have to sacrifice people carrying or something? Then I suppose you'd be able to crank out more, smaller long range colony ships at the expense of starting with very small colonies. Am I close or have you found some sort of land grabbing cheese tactic?

There are bugs in the ship design screen, for more info click this Link

The bling part is really cool to, although it would look better with textures on the ship.

Two tricks to it: The default Colonly Transport uses 6 colony pods (Solitair has made a very good suggestion to fix this part of the issue), which makes it rather expensive to build, especially considering that you gain nothing by having more than one colony pod on the ship. I hope this changes.

The second trick is to use a cargo hull rather than a medium hull. You only get a quarter the hit points, but it's cheaper and has more room. I hope this DOESN'T change, as I like the tradeoff.

Personally I like the SE3/4 way of doing it (except for the free pop from the colony module), one module gives you x pop in your new colony, add more get more pop, but that will cost you more and most likely be slower. This way you will have to make a tradeof between speed, cost, and carrying capacity. And let us save our designs to external files, so we can share them, and reuse them. Naturally ships will only be available for building once the apropriate tech have been researched, but they should be available as some form of blueprints, that can be "downgraded" to something buildable.

Oh well this discussion actually belongs somewhere else
